I am a strong advocate for the impact of leaders. We can’t have great schools without great leaders (PS You can’t have a great school without great teachers too!)

The leadership team has a huge impact on school culture, staff satisfaction and making a school a great place to work (in spite of the challenges we face in schools, every day!) Relationships are vital. After all, schools are PEOPLE places.

I have long been a fan of the work of Amanda Gore and she ‘hit the nail on the head’ in her recent LinkedIn article. PRESENCE is a great leader’s superpower. Amanda explains that the most charismatic leaders have learned to master one powerful, often overlooked skill: Being fully present. In a world full of distractions, being truly present is rare – and magnetic. When you are fully present, people feel seen, safe and valued. You are not just speaking to people, you are connecting with people.

I know you are CRAZY busy at school at this time of the year but I respectfully suggest you try to take more time and connect with people. Focus on being truly PRESENT!
